“You’re not really an adult at all. You’re just a tall child holding a beer, having a conversation you don’t understand”
The first time I think I ever took climbing seriously was when I got stuck in a tree at 5 years old and my Dad had to rescue me! There were many years of falling out of trees before I took to falling of rocks… So I’ve been falling for around 25 years.
These days I am known as a Big Wall climber, but I’d say I’m probably more of an all-rounder. I’d say I enjoy Sport Climbing the most, but Big Walls give me the greatest sense of achievement and the experience is unbeatable. I also love Bouldering, especially indoors on steep boards and outdoors on any type of rock really, and sometimes I like to suffer in the cold doing Scottish Winter Mixed!

Do you have a local claim to fame?
I would say I’m quite well known for being able to find the easiest, most non-physical way up a climb, because doing things the hard way is generally too hard for me!
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you while doing your sport?
While I was climbing in Germany I discovered a secret active military base inside the mountain… it looked like the bad guys base in a James Bond film. I shouldn’t say anymore just in case they come for me!
